worn out, but still moving forward

Every now and then, something stops me in my tracks. Today, it was my boots.

They lasted six month, I destroyed them.

Best $400 I ever spent.

Seeing them like this made me think:
If my boots look like this after six months, what’s happening to my body and mind?

I’ve been grinding on a steady diet of snickers, energy drinks, bubble gum and fast food.

I no longer use tobacco, but, if I were, 2 pack + 1 can per day, easily.

I’ve managed to maintain my weight, but deep down, I know this isn’t sustainable forever.

Last few years were slow.

I had time to build a mindfulness practice and prepare my body.

That investment is why I’ve been able to go 7 days a week for 1/2 a year.

I don’t wear the long days as a badge of honor.

They remind me of the seasons of business.

Sometimes you’re planting.

Sometimes you’re harvesting.

Right now, it’s harvest.

Today is Saturday. I started at 5:30 AM. I’ll work until noon, then make the 4.5 hour drive to Houston.

I got a new pair of boots, but here’s what I know:

I can always buy new boots.

I can’t buy back time with my girls.

* For those in the grind: No rest for the weary.

* For those on the sidelines: The slow season is preparing you for more.

* And for those thinking about making a change: Grow a pair and just do it.

Question for you: What’s the biggest sign in your life that you’ve been grinding hard?
