Everything is bigger in Texas: My first Rodeo
18 years late to the party, but I finally made it to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
What.
An.
Event.
The sheer scale of it all was overwhelming, the crowds, the food, the energy.
And the turkey legs… so many turkey legs.
I can only imagine how many turkeys sacrificed their limbs for this event, especially considering the rodeo lasts for weeks.
Walking through the fairgrounds took me back to my Louisiana roots.
If you ever worked out of Lafayette, Broussard, or New Iberia, you know The Cajun Heartland State Fair (cue the jingle).
Bringing my daughter to her first rodeo made it even better.
We bonded over carnival prizes (though I was strictly prohibited from going after the Texas-sized ones).
Bringing it all together:
The coolest part of the Houston Rodeo?
It unites the entire city.
Houston is a true melting pot, a global city where cultures blend like a well-made gumbo.
There are cities that are cooler, less humid, safer, and more walkable....
But
Houston is my home.
At some point, I’ll cross the tipping point where I’ve lived in Texas longer than anywhere else.
And as I continue to build my companies, I can’t help but be grateful for this city, for the opportunities, and for another day to chase my ambitions.
