Dangerous Work
You have to go where the work is!
One thing has stayed the same after 25 years in the field, I go where the work takes me.
From helicopter flights to offshore vessels in the Gulf of Mexico (or as we now call it, the Gulf of America) to navigating burning tire blockades in Argentina, I’ve spent the better part of my career working across the Americas.
And through it all, one lesson has been crystal clear: work doesn’t come to you, you have to go to it.
In a perfect world, I’d set up a website, and money would flow in 24/7.
But the real world doesn’t work that way.
My first job on rigs conditioned me for a life of being away.
Meeting my wife while working offshore meant we built a communication style that can handle anything.
Years of working in developing countries, in unpredictable field environments, have made me resilient.
I’ve gone from five-star hotels to sleeping on cots.
So long as I can close my eyes in relative safety, I can go for days.
The 2025 season is off to a strong start.
From camping out to working in abandoned buildings, I’m in my element.
My wife, who’s also my business partner, listens to my stories and is grateful for the training I’ve had.
If every project had to meet her standards for safety and comfort, we probably wouldn’t have work.
That’s what makes us such a strong team: I handle the parts she won’t, and she keeps everything else moving forward.
Without her, I wouldn’t be the best version of me.
We make a hell of a team.
Entrepreneurship is a team sport.
Q: If you could have anyone on your team, who would you pick?
