Blue Rhino
Each Monday, I’m faced with an opportunity: How will I set the pace of the week?
Will I let the stress of last week cloud today—or even Wednesday?
I’ve decided to flip the script on Mondays: Blue rhinos, not Blue Mondays
Think about a rhino for a moment, do you think they are worried about a lion coming and trying to eat them?
I snapped this image on a trip, it made me pause and think.
What if instead of being the gazelle trying to outrun the lion or the lion chasing the gazelle, I was a blue rhino?
What if the rhino is a better animal to pick in the game of business?
There was a phase in my career when I dreaded Mondays.
Here’s what I do now to ensure I have a blue rhino:
Focus on today. Not Friday. Just today.
Write. Every day. In my journal, in reports, and right here on this platform. I take the thoughts and put them down.
Let it go. Let yourself flow. Slow and low, that is the tempo. The Beastie Boys had it all figured out.
We live in a fast-paced world, constantly trying to exist in three places at once: Yesterday. Today. Tomorrow.
Sometimes, we have to flip the script completely.
We have to reframe things in a way that makes this journey fun again.
How will you reframe today?
