Why do you do it

I am working through the question Wendy asked me the other day, why do you push so hard.

I had some time, so I built a table to see if the numbers could answer the question, it was worse than I anticipated.

The last salary I received was back in 2014, I was paid $142,800 per year.  11 years later, thousands of hours worked, and strictly by the numbers I was doing better back then than the past 7 years. For S&G’s I added the salaries of the top earners in the US to see how I fare, I was a little shocked, but not surprised.

I opened the aperture a bit to see what I made per hour based on a 40-100 hour work week.  I have averaged 60-80 hours per week for the past 8 years.  When I break down how many hours I work, I make less than my men.  The chart below shows some interesting details. Long and short of this analysis is this: I don’t care what the numbers work out to, I have a number in my head and I will work as long and as hard as necessary to hit it.  If we don’t set the bar high, we will never know what we are truly capable of.
