the artist

The guy in this picture is Dillon Forte. It took me over two years to get an appointment with him, and on Thursday, we finally started.

In the first half of my career, I chased objects to mark milestones of achievement. Watches, to be specific. I collected plenty of them. Today, they sit in a box in my closet—static reminders of what I once thought mattered most.

These days, I chase art.
I chase light through my Leica and Hasselblad.
I chase profit through Excel.
I chase architecture with my hands and tools.
And I chase knowledge and wisdom through the books I read.

This post is a reminder to never stop the pursuit.

It’s also a homage to the artist within all of us.

Meeting Dillon was a privilege, he is a master at his craft. Tattoos may not be for everyone, but for those of us who wear them, they become part of our story. A permanent reminder of where we’ve been and what we value.

Maybe that’s why they’ve drawn me in the second half of my life.

The artist is the living proof of potential that exists in all of us.

We are all artists in our own way, some of us just haven’t found the right medium of expression yet.
