stop for a minute

Take a breath.

Look at yourself and ask: how can I do better today?

Has the joy of imagination been dulled by the grind of just drifting through, or are you holding on to a tiger’s tail with the intention of riding it?

Yesterday gave me both perspectives.

In my last post, I shared one of the absurdities I sometimes face on jobsites: a man breaking concrete in sandals.

As wild as it was to see, I adapted. I didn’t run him off, I got him boots and better tools.

I made the best of the situation, because the alternative was to stop the job altogether.

Later that day, I drove to another project.

That’s where I found the little boy who still chases tigers—the boy who dreams with eyes wide open.

I sat down with the superintendent to work through the details of the interior buildout.

No computers, no software. Just tape, business cards, and imagination.

Solving problems like kids building castles out of blocks.

In a few weeks, it’ll be my turn. A 55,000 SF building will become my sandbox.

I’ll lead a team to build out the office space, Project 0001.

My shot.

Going from plans to structure is a process, but for me it’s also play. I like to sketch ideas, move things around, and dream.

In this second half of my career, I’ve learned to embrace that curiosity.

My camera now documents the journey of that little boy inside, the one who tells his teacher, “hold my beer.”

This is it.

This moment.

This crazy simulation called life, where boys and girls make their dreams real.

If you made it this far, thank you.

I hope you, like me, embrace your inner child.

Chase your dreams.

Grab that tiger hiding in the jungle.

He’s waiting for you.
