Full Circle

I have gone through probably 1,000 pairs of gloves in my career.

I have been grinding full time on this rock for >25 years.

I have held over 20 job titles.

I have reinvented myself so many times I have lost count.

I was everything from MWD hand, Technical Trainer, Regional Director, Project Manager; lots of different hats, lots of business cards.

Every jump I made taught me something new - but it also caused me to question where I truly belong.

In the beginning, I jumped between jobs because that is what I though I was supposed to do.

25 years later, I see everything much clearer, all of these things were part of the process of discovering "me".

Here is what I did wrong in the beginning:
- I chased title and money
- I thought changing jobs was what the company wanted me to do
- I let the others define success for me

I was always moving, I would begin to feel unfulfilled after the initial high of something new wore off, and the process started all over again.

Then something changed.

I hit bottom.

NO MORE MONEY!

I had to do something or I was going to lose everything.

Here is what I did to FIND myself:
- I found the common thread in all the jobs that I had done; I found my core trait.
- I focused on mastering one skill instead of chasing titles and money.
- I stopped comparing myself to others.
- I set a vision for "me" instead of short term targets.

Looking back on 25 years, every job helped to prepare me for today.

Every Person I met, every conversation I shared were the cornerstone of my success.

The purpose of work is to create genuine connections and help others become successful.

Mastery comes from accepting the setbacks and rising each time you fall.

Success comes from looking in the mirror at the scared child deep inside and letting him know that the person in the mirror is strong enough!!!!

PS: How have you evolved?
