Be still and know
We just wrapped up the first month on our biggest project yet.
Things are moving. Structures are going up. Progress is visible.
But beneath that momentum is a quiet pressure most people don’t see:
the burn rate.
For those unfamiliar, burn rate is the amount of cash it takes just to keep the machine running.
On smaller jobs, I can invoice weekly and keep cash flowing.
This one?
Monthly billing, Net 30 terms.
That’s 60 days from doing the work to seeing the cash.
This is the cost of growth.
For the first time since we started in 2017, I’m seeking outside funding to float operations.
Until now, we’ve self-funded everything.
But if you want to play a bigger game, you need a longer runway.
Even Fortune 500 companies turn to commercial paper to bridge the gap.
It’s exciting.
It’s uncomfortable.
It’s a new frontier.
I found this photo from a job we completed in Q1.
I snapped it during a moment of quiet, and seeing it again reminded me:
Be still.
Trust.
Focus.
Growth brings risk.
That’s the nature of the game.
But this season is also proof—we’re building something worth backing.
This is the stretch that turns hobbyist builders into business owners.
Are you willing to embrace the burn?
