a gentile reminder

BE SOMEONE.

Who, you ask? That’s for you to discover.

Every time I drive south on I-45 into Houston, I catch sight of that iconic graffiti — bold letters stretched across the train bridge, declaring:

BE SOMEONE.

It’s more than paint. It’s a message that captures the spirit of this city — its energy, its chaos, its opportunity.

The occasional defacing, the fresh coats of blue paint, the constant reinvention — it all mirrors Houston itself: raw, resilient, and alive.

I snapped this photo at the art festival last weekend.

Two words.

Simple, but powerful.

Plant them deep enough, and they’ll grow into something that changes your life.

Houston has a way of doing that — showing you the world living and working together. In culinary terms we call that a gumbo.

It’s the wildcard of cities, vibrating with possibility, always pushing you to become better.

I’m proud of my Cajun roots and my South Louisiana accent, but this city? It’s become home. The “country comes to town” story fits me well — and truth is, I ain’t going anywhere.

Whether you’re in Houston or halfway around the world, I challenge you to take the same message to heart:

BE SOMEONE.
